Balboa 1
Pre-requisite: None
Balboa and Bal-Swing are Swing dances that originated in Southern California in the early 1900s and are known for fast and fancy footwork with a variety of spins and turns for both the lead and the follow. In Balboa 1, you will learn the basic closed-position Balboa step pattern and then be able to transition into the open Swing moves like the Come-around, the Toss-out, and Lolly-kicks. This is a great dance for faster tempo songs and we'll start slow and work our way up!
Tempo: 150-200 beats per minute.

Balboa 2
Pre-requisite: Balboa 1 or equivalent experience
We will build on the fundamentals learned in Balboa 1 and will incorporate some footwork variations, additional spins and moves as well as refining lead and follow techniques. Tempos used for this class will be slightly faster and tips will be given on how to keep time with faster music.

East Coast Swing 1
Pre-requisite: None
East Coast Swing is a instantly accessible way to enjoy social dancing to Swing music. ECS has Lindy Hop's stylings with less overall movement and fewer timing variations. Danced to a wide range of tempos, the music is traditionally big band Swing from the golden era of Jazz. In ECS1, you will learn the basics of lead/follow skills through simple shapes and consistent rhythms. Lots of repetition and partner rotation to build up foundations. Connected and free turns will be taught from both open and closed position. Tempo: 125-165 beats per minute.

East Coast Swing 2a
Pre-requisite: East Coast Swing 1 or equivalent experience
(East Coast Swing 2a and 2b can be taken in either order.) Utilize your base to play with a wide variety of new shapes. These dynamic and creative shapes will improve overall lead/follow skills. Most class material maintains the same timing from East Coast Swing 1. Students can plan on revisiting material from East Coast Swing 1 in new and exciting ways. Tempo: 125-165 beats per minute.

Lindy Hop 1
Pre-requisite: East Coast Swing 1 recommended but not required
Lindy Hop is the original Swing dance, made famous in the ballrooms of Harlem. Danced to a wide range of tempos, the music is traditionally big band Swing from the golden era of Jazz. Lindy Hop is characterized as a happy dance. Improvisation and rhythmical play are tied to Lindy Hop's styling and spirit. In Lindy 1, you will learn the fundamentals of Lindy Hop. Discover the Lindy Hop Basic (Swingout), Lindy Circle, and Charleston, along with some basic turns. The goal of the class will be to have you social dancing the different components, comfortably intermixing different rhythms and timings. There will be a lot of repetition and partner rotation to build up foundations. Tempo: 130-150 beats per minute.

Lindy Hop 2a
Pre-requisite: Lindy Hop 1 or equivalent experience
(Lindy 2a and 2b can be taken in either order or concurrently.) Build on your fundamentals from Lindy 1 and expand your repertoire to include more turns and Charleston shapes all while improving your lead/follow skills and ability to intermix timings. Material varies but Lindy 2a covers Jig Walks, Tandem, Mini-Dip, and basic turns within the Swingout, while Lindy 2b covers hand to hand Charleston, Swivels, and Kick ups. Tempo: 125-185 beats per minute.

Lindy Hop 2b
Pre-requisite: Lindy Hop 1 or equivalent experience
(Lindy 2a and 2b can be taken in either order or concurrently.) Build on your fundamentals from Lindy 1 and expand your repertoire to include more turns and Charleston shapes all while improving your lead/follow skills and ability to intermix timings. Material varies but Lindy 2a covers Jig Walks, Tandem, Mini-Dip, and basic turns within the Swingout, while Lindy 2b covers hand to hand Charleston, Swivels, and Kick ups. Tempo: 125-185 beats per minute.

Lindy Hop 3
Pre-requisite: Lindy 2a AND 2b
(Lindy 3a and 3b can be taken in either order or concurrently.) You have conquered the material from Lindy 2a and 2b and want to take it to the next level. Lindy 3 students start dancing a much wider range of tempos while exploring new shapes. More rhythm and styling variations are taught, all while improving overall technique. Material varies but Lindy 3a will introduce new Swingout shapes as well as turns within Charleston shapes. Lindy 3b introduces more authentic Jazz Steps and Jig Walk variations. Tempo: 125-200+ beats per minute. AUGUST SESSION: We are offering Lindy 3c this session as a summer special with ALL NEW MATERIAL! Level 3 and 4 students welcome!!

Lindy Hop 4
Pre-requisite: Lindy 3a AND 3b
Lindy 4 has a different focus each session. Class material is tailored to the individual needs of the students in the class and is different from session to session. Class music often includes pre-Swing and post golden era of Jazz. Tempos can vary greatly. Lindy 4 introduces subtle shapes and dynamic rhythms all while emphasizing individual style. Tempo: 90-230+ beats per minute.
